The Role

At Carbon, the Senior Accountant serves as a key figure in maintaining the financial backbone of our fast-growing organization. This role goes beyond routine bookkeeping: it involves overseeing statutory accounting, financial reporting, and compliance across multiple business units within the group. The Senior Accountant ensures that our financial statements are accurate, timely, and compliant with local and international regulations, while also streamlining processes to support scalability.

They act as a trusted partner to business leaders, providing insights that guide decision-making, and collaborate closely with auditors, regulators, and cross-functional teams to maintain transparency and accountability. In essence, this role safeguards the integrity of Carbon’s financial operations while enabling the business to grow with confidence.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead end-to-end statutory accounting and compliance activities in accordance with Romanian GAAP, IFRS, local tax regulations.
  • Oversee the accurate and timely preparation and submission of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for each business unit.
  • Manage external audit processes, tax authority communications, and banking relationships.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain accounting policies, internal controls, and scalable financial systems to support business growth and complexity.
  • Ensure full payroll compliance, including Revisal and ANAF SPV registrations, as well as adherence to foreign regulatory requirements.
  • Implement and optimize the use of ERP and accounting software platforms to streamline and automate accounting operations for efficiency and accuracy.

Who You Are

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CECCAR certification required.
  • Minimum 5+ years of accounting experience with proven expertise managing multiple business entities.
  • In-depth knowledge of Romanian tax laws, statutory reporting requirements, and payroll compliance.
  • Skilled in ERP/Accounting software and advanced Excel/Google Sheets knowledge for financial analysis.
  • Strong autonomous worker with excellent communication skills in Romanian and English.
  • Experience working with or within venture-backed businesses is a bonus.
